Gross neglect on the part of our government is rampant. I read stories about corporations that hurt the people in our communities and walk away with no accountability or are granted immunity by our very own government. In the neighborhood where I work, people are afraid to eat food grown in the soil because of an oil spill that took place years ago and was never properly cleaned. This same neighborhood houses one of the highest cancer rates in the country. Increasingly, we fear the food we eat and the medications that are prescribed to us by the same doctors who have sworn to uphold the Hippocratic Oath. How is this a country “For the people, by the people”?
